Remains of the season…

Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), like many native perennials, has a long season of interest in the garden or prairie.  The seed heads are favorite treats of the eye-catching Goldfinch. I purposely leave clusters standing until the hearty seeds are blown loose or consumed.
