At rest…

Dormancy on the Prairie does not mean death. Winter brings a form of hibernation to the hardy prairie’s Big Blue Stem grasses and the Compass Plants. The summer’s growth yeilding six to eight foot tall stems are flattened from winds that bring in colder weather and snow. This image and the ones I share in the next posts are from my time documenting the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Prairie restoration work in the 1990s. I have not shared these images in this blog and because my time outdoors right now is limited I have chosen to share some of my favorites from this project with you. Copyright 2021 Pamela Breitberg
