Gotta touch it…

The leaves are what makes Lamb’s Ear (Stachys byzantina) famous and a favorite of children and those young at heart. You gotta touch the soft fuzzy leaves. This large planting of Lamb’s Ear was outside the Chicago History Musuem in Lincoln Park, a place frequented by school and summer camp groups.  Copyright 2022 Pamela Breitberg
The vertical clusters of tiny violet flowers first caught my attention to the Lamb’s Ear. It was a challenge to bring them into focus for a photograph since there was no flat surface for a clear focal point. It was a joy to see such a large cluster of the Lamb’s Ear; I had tried them in my perrenial garden years ago and the small planting never returned for a second year’s growth. Now I know where to enjoy them and touch thier soft fuzzy leaves. Copyright 2022 Pamela Breitberg
