A plant called Joe…

All along the Lily Pool, this time of year, are towering Sweet Joh-Pye Weed (Eutrochium purpurem). They blend in with the cool greens of shrubs and plants, yet their height and prolific blooms make them impossible to miss. These are another native plant and so named for a Mohican who used them medicinally. Shauquethqueat is Joe’s real last name; but it was “Americanized” as were so many last name by European settlers.
