Composition choices…

Using up some drying paint on my palette, I did this quick piece in my sketchbook. Tried to keep the cooler greens in the background and deeper colors in the forground. Lighter blue in the sky; darker blue in the waters. Just attempting to have some more frequent practice, which I know should be daily, but usually is a few times a week. I’m not professional, so no “need” for daily work. But daily practice in any artform does move one forward in abilities. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
Used fresh grocery store flowers for a subject in my sketchbook. Composition practice needed as the pitcher too large for the space; not enough room for base and flower height. But fun to do. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
This was first attempted in my sketchbook. 8″x10″ acrylic on board. The challenge was to keep the mood created by the lighting while also making the compostion scene obvious to viewers other than myself. It took quite awhile before there was a difference, subtle, but difference, between what is wall and what is pathway. A worthy exercise though my dearest critic, my husband, still wonders why I’d choose such a subject to paint. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
