Fewer here now…

Taken a month ago, when the Cupplant flowers were in full bloom, a Monarch butterfly fed on one of its flowers. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
The Monarch butterfly’s majesty seems apparent as it rests on the top flower of this tall prairie native. Just so special. Now they are in their southern migration pattern south for the winter. When I taught science my students would follow their migration at this sight: Journey North. I highly recommend you check it out! Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
The end of summer is the ideal time to observe Monarchs in Chicago because they slow down. Its easy to follow their flight or to watch them feed for a while on a flower. And did you know it’s their future generation that will return next summer! A butterfly’s life is short, so its future generations that continue the specie’s survival. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
