My eyes did not deceive me. This is a Black Egret. They are found worldwide being migratory birds. Flamingo Gardens is a rescue preserve for injured wild animals or those with “human imprinting” (so they would not survive in the wild). I have yet to see a Black Egret in the wild, so it was a treat to see this one without the benefit of natural camoflauge.
