It’s never too late to stop and pay tribrute to our precious memories and loved ones. Memorial Day was three days ago. But remembrances happen every day. Spotting this Red Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) in a garden the other morning stirred emotions in me. The Poppy symbolizes peace and a hopeful future. WWI initiated this symbolism: Read about it and Flanders Field here. Copyright 2024 Pamela BreitbergMy memories were less symbolic, yet emotions were stirred inside me that I had considered tamed. Such are our complicated minds. These Poppies brought back memories of my perennial garden where each spring a cluster of Red Poppies would bloom. They always awed me. Nature’s design is awesome. They appear so delicate; each petal has rich colors yet move easily in the slightest breeze. They in fact, they are resilient in stronger winds and rain; each petal stays on the flower for quite some time. The deep violet dots near the center seem to mimic the falling violet pollen dusts. The Poppy is a special reminder to pause and remember. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
