A rare one name after a friend…

A Bee collects sweet pollen inside a lovely flower that’s in bloom on a Franklin Tree (Franklinia alatamaha). Named by botanist, John Bartram, who was a close friend of Benjamin Franklin. This native tree was originally named Gordonia pubescens for the Camillia’s hairy fruit. Oh my! Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
This Bee in flight almost steals the spotlight from the lush Franklin Tree bloom. Originally considered a rare find, the Franklin Tree would survive due to diligent seed collection by the Bartrams. Read their amazing story here.  Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
