Every inch of the southern retreat for Frederic and Lilly Bartlett has their artistic touches. The Bonnet House, as many have read in the past in this blog, is a favorite retreat for me as well. I am there weekly during the winter months painting with friends. The house surrounds this courtyard; each room opens to the courtyard, reinforcing the relaxed, subtropical setting. Of course, I chose two scenes of the Bonnet House as subjects for this exhibit. One is of the coral stone walkway leading to the slough. The other shows a massive False Strangler Fig next to veranda.
