Northern sign of spring…

Up north here, in Chicago, once of the first signs of spring is the prolific blooming of Forsythia shrubs. We don’t have Redbuds or Bradford Pears; but the Forsythia seem to shout, “It’s spring!”.  Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Like many spring flowers, Forsythia blooms are small. But in large quantities, they overwhelm one’s senses. This Eurasian native has other known uses than just announcing spring’s arrival. A Korean stringed instrument, ajaeng, uses it’s sticks as bows! Cool! Read about medicinal uses here; and more about Forsythia.  Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
