Up north here, in Chicago, once of the first signs of spring is the prolific blooming of Forsythia shrubs. We don’t have Redbuds or Bradford Pears; but the Forsythia seem to shout, “It’s spring!”. This Eurasian native has other known uses than just announcing spring’s arrival. A Korean stringed instrument, ajaeng, uses it’s sticks as bows! Cool!
