New thoughts…

I first learned of the Columbine plant when I spent a summer working in Colorado; the Blue Columbine is the state flower and prominent in the mountains. The primary flower that I see in the midwest is the Eastern Red Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis). This spring blooming native is also known as Canada Columbine and Wild Columbine. My favorite common name is Little Lantern; so fitting. This name will be what I call it from now on. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
