Pretty or pretty unusual…

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, it is often said. The first time I saw a Muscovy Duck (Cairina moschata) in South Florida I truly believed it to be a genetic mistake. It is indeed quite recognizable by it’s unusual head adornments; and these natives are quite common sightings. Copyright 2026 Pamela Breitberg
This Muscovy Duck rests along the edge of the slough at the Bonnet House. Read all about its named origins and other facts here. It is also known as Barbary Duck when chosen as a main entree; it is a large, meaty duck indeed. Copyright 2026 Pamela Breitberg
