This Rose Grape (Medinilla magnifica) has lost most of its bracts and flowers yet still draws attention. See yesterday’s post for another example of bracts. It is a native of the Phillipines but quite popular in subtropical areas such as southern Florida. This one was at Flamingo Gardens. Medinilla magnifica is an epiphytic, meaning it lives on hosts plants and uses the decaying debris that lands in large crooks of the host tree for nourishment; it does not harm the host plant.
