This Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) looks harmless and perhaps friendly while sitting outside this home in Sarasota Florida. It watched me come back from a walk while visiting a girlfriend. Red-tailed Hawks used to hunt in our Chicago suburb garden. It thought, rightly so, our birdfeeder area was prime hunting grounds. So I’m aware they are dangerous predators.
