Looking like a Lily of the Valley flowers on steroids, Japanese Andromeda (Pieris japaonica) is an evergreen shrub. Similarly, the flower clusters are quite fragrant. Flowers form on the old growth of this shrub. All parts of the shrub are poisonous making it a deer-repellant choice; but its also poisonous to pets and children. This evergreen is also called Japanese Andromeda, so named after the Greek myth of the princess, Andromeda chained to a sea wall.
