January starbursts…

Starburst Bush (Clerodendrum quadriloculare) caught my attention for the emerging pinky/red flowers. The leaves intrigued me equally as I walked passt the tall shrub. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
This Starburst Bush, aka Philippine Glorybower, Fireworks Plant, was tall enough that I soon noticed that the under parts of the leaves were deep purple. Caution should be shown when choosing this plant in the garden; it can become invasive. This particular shrub was alongside a  sidewalk adjacent to a parking lot, with plenty of room to spread. The contrast between the leaves top green shades and the underleaf purple hues is striking. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Nestled in-between trees were these prolific Starburst Bush blooms. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
