Cradled babes…

I have to look down into the center of the circular array of plant leaves to see the tiny, baby-size, flowers. Moses In The Cradle (Tradescantia spathacea) is an apt name for this subtropical beauty. Leaves are green with purple undersides. Moses In The Cradle is a Central American native who has naturalized in Florida. This time of Lent, I think more about the New Testament stories than of Moses; but this plant slows me down to remember my other bible lessons. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Flowers are so tiny that I originally walked past the blooms, thinking it was some litter collected inside the plant. Silly me. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Other common names for this herb are Oyster Plant and Boatlily. In South America the dried leaves are used to make tea. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
