South Pond at autumn… Pamela Breitberg 3 years ago View of Lincoln Park’s South Pond in Chicago from the Patio at Cafe Brauer, looking eastward toward the prairielands that surround the pond. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg Black Eyed Susans were still blooming prolifically a few weeks ago. Notice that several blooms that appear in shadow actually had green petals. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg The prairie pathway around the pond includes a view of the Grant statue. This statue was meant to be installed in Chicago’s Grant Park but someone erroneously installed it in it’s northern neighbor, Lincoln Park. It was too large to economically and safely relocate to its intended home. Autumn is a time that the yellows of the prairie shine at the South Pond. It is a prime photo op spot including for bridal parties providing a backdrop of the downtown Chicago skyline. Copyright 2020.
