A hazy, smoky day in the Great Smoky Mountains might make one question the name of the mountain ahead of you. This granite projection is Looking Glass Rock; yes, a mountain is named “rock”. At 3969 feet high, when the sunlight hits the igneous rock’s surface, it reflects the light like a mirror. I only wonder how many times travelers were temporarily blinded from the reflected sunlight.
