A detailed map on the Blue Ridge Parkway is helpful; but only to a point. The many many layers of mountains plus many layers of “smokey” tops which hide some mountains, makes identification of specific Great Smoky Mountains challenging. Still, it is nice to spot some mountains that I have visited. From my view I didn’t see its “bald” top making identification possible only from referencing the map. Read here about this “grassy bald”.Copyright 2024 Pamela BreitbergI also have the “peak finder” app on my phone. But the multiple rounded topped mountains in front of me and the haze of the Smoky’s make it a continual challenge to know what specific mountains lie ahead of me. I choose to just be awed by the incredible vastness and beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Sometimes, its good enough to not know everything. Enjoy the wonders around me.
