Misleading closeup…

The image shows small clusters of buds with larger flowers of a different color surrounding these small buds. This is one plant who is often called the Spanish Flag because of it’s colors. Copyright 2021 Pamela Breitberg
Eventually the entire cluster will be blooms of these bright, warm colored flowers. The entire cluster is roughly an inch in diameter, so each flower is quite tiny. Lantana is listed as a perennial, but actually an annual in the U.S.’s midwest. Whenever I see Lantana thoughts of my mother emerge, as it was one of her regular additions to her garden.
