Work rewarded…

My last photos of one of the Community Gardens inside Lincoln Park in Chicago, was in early spring. Then, new plantings were beginning to grow. This morning, the plants have reached their seasonal maturity. They are ready for consumption. A neighbor is working to harvst her rewards for tending her plot all summer and fall. I hadn’t realized that Hollyhock are entirely edible; all parts are tasty. These grew outside the fence of the Community Garden, which means they’re accessible and edible by all. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Worthy, hearty, gardens are enjoyed by insects too. Here a Grasshopper dines. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg

And of course, no vegetable garden is complete without Tomatoes. Tomatoes always taste best right off the vine. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg

And yes, the Tuber and flowers of the Dahlia are also edible! These grew just outside the Garden fence too. More of their images tomorrow. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
