From my Prairie Collection taken at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. I used to use this image in my science class. Students looked at the image and wrote down all their observations. Then we’d share observations. What do you see? My daughter’s observation caught me off guard years ago when I showed her this image. Answer: These are actually two Compass Plant leaves lieing on the Prairie floor of Big Blue Stem grass. One is in shadow and still frost covered; the other is sunlit. My daughter saw a rat! Careful for what you are so sure of!! Even experts can error in their analysis.
