Shades of gold…

The many maples throughout the forest had predominantly yellow leaves, except for a few trees such as this one.

  1. Thanks for the link on how trees develop their colors. Up here in Wisconsin in a single day we lost all the color in our area, but driving south ten miles it hadn’t even peaked yet. Always a catch me if you can highlight of the year. It’s interesting to notice when spring returns the early leaf out will display the same tints as they do at the end of the season.

    • Interesting observation about the spring leafing coloring. I’ll have to remember to notice them in the spring! My initial thoughts were that the sudden rain had helped colors pop out of the otherwise dreary fall leaves; but it now seems the colors were “in the making” long before partly enhanced by this summer’s drought. Always amazing and I’m always learning. Thanks for sharing.
