Fourteen foot high doors lead one into an incredibly gorgeous mansion, Terrace Hill, aka Hubble Mansion, aka the Iowa Govenor’s mansion. It sets on the top of one of the highest vantage pointss in Des Moines, Iowa; making the exterior and interior views equally stunning. The first two floors are open to the public while the third floor has been meticulously updated for the Govenor’s family residence.Landing on the second floor. Copyright 2018 Pamela BreitbergHave I mentioned that when I was a student at Drake University in Des Moines, this was a favorite destination. 45 years ago (yep, I’m that old!) it was in transition, so unlived in. So a short while the Hubbell family was no longer residing here and they had not willed it to the state of Iowa. Today one cannot wander the grounds.or picnic while enjoying the view (like we did), without security reprimands! Copyright 2018 Pamela BreitbergStately view! My future husband and I dreamed of being maid and Butler so that we could reside here. Not the best goals for two Drake students!
