Success; got it…

Caught it! I watched this fragile, delicate looking Great White Heron stoically stand at the water’s edge, ever diligent, undistracted by my presence, until it caught sight of it’s lunch (or snack?). I have only seen one such beautiful bird on this stretch of beach the past several years and wondered if it’s relatively small, thin, size was indication of a struggle to survive. I was surprised that it didn’t veer away from the water as I walked past. I watched as it purposely caught a small fish, probably a sardine. Copyright 2019 Pamela Breitberg

As soon as the fish was ingested the Heron was back to work hunting for it’s next snack/meal. And we think we work hard! Copyright 2019 Pamela Breitberg.
