I am unsure if the bicycle ride share progarm in Prague was named with a sense of humor or if the connection to the Checkmate term in Chess was mere coincidence. I like to believe they intended the pun. I am also surprised that businesses in other-language speaking countries choose English words in their names. I am sure they know how to best and most successfully appeal to broad audiences; but I find it a little sad they don’t find it wise to us their native language(s). Chicago’s ride-share program is the Divvy Bike, whose name stirs no such colorful images to my mind. Sorry for being political; that is not my intent for this blog. Copyright 2019 Pamela Breitberg
