Something I’m thinking about…

If you look closely at this boat with a half inflated sail you’ll see that the sailor is in the processing of closing the sail. This cannnot be an easy task while out at sea in the winds. I’m not a sailor, but I’ve never realized this would be a difficult task. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg
To stay with the “sailor” theme today I spotted on the beach the other morning a By The Wind Sailor (Velalla velalla), a relative of jellyfish. It is no larger than an inch, and like other Jellyfish relatives can induce a sting if stepped upon. This past month I always look down when walking the beach because it’s the season when the Jellyfish and Men of War frequently are washed up on the beach (and in the waters…swimmers beware). It did surprise me because I have only seen them a couple of times over the past five years; and I spotted only two this morning. They do look like minature sailboats with their sail raised high (well, high for their tiny size). Other nicknames are fittingly Little Sail and Sea Raft. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg
