Deceptive appearances…

Inside the protected area of Belmont Harbor’s Migratory Bird Sanctuary is what appears to be a dead tree. Being an observer of nature for many decades I have learned that “dead” trees are wonderful hosts for a multitude of life. Though the tree’s life may be finished, insects, birds, and other wildlife, even plants, find it makes a wonderful home. Wise naturalists and gardeners learn to let such trees exist for the health of a habitat. Inside this sanctuary the dead tree offers no threat of damage to property, so proudly continues it’s service to the community. The composition of this image proudly highlights this treasured subject. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg
