Purple flags on the Atlantic Ocean mean ‘marine life warning. Jellyfish globs here on the beach are evidence of their likely appearance in the waters as well; so swimmers beware. To learn than you can imagine about Jellyfish click here.Copyright 2022 Pamela BreitbergEarly morning is the time I look for beach evidence of danger in the waters. Here, alongside some Jellyfish are the plastic-bag-looking Portuguese Man Of War. It’s sting is strong enough to kill fish so not what one wants to encounter in the saltwater. Sealife such as Loggerhead Sea Turtles eat the Man of War and the proliferation of plastic in the oceans confuse and harm them as the plastics mimic this food source. It holds weaker danger than the previous sealife, yet still deserves respect. I see them on the beach only a few times each year and their cute name and appearance always entices me.
