There is only one species of Thistle that is native and identifiable from its smooth, non-scratchy leaves; this one is just a “weed” though it does add some welcome color. Who would think such a vista is only several miles away from the busy, peopled downtown Chicago! The frequent green spaces is one thing that makes living in Chicago most enjoyable.
