For months I have been puzzled when walking past numerous apartment buildings in Chicago. Quite often a surrounding fence has over a dozen padlocks built to house a key. My only familiarity with such lockboxes was when our home was listed for sale and such a box was placed on our front door handle so realtors could gain access to show our home to prospective buyers. It was hard for me to believe that these buildings had so many “for sale” apartments. Copyright 2022 Pamela BreitbergLooking closer at the locks we saw “Wag” on the front of most of them. Question answered: the boxes hold an apartment key so that the dogwalker can enter once or twice a day to relieve the dog(s) inside. City ingenuity! Chicago apartments are home to many dogs; a morning walk through the neighborhood is proof. Often the dogs being walked come close to equaling the pedestrians on the sidewalk. Literally. As a side note: many properties line their grass curbs with short fences because of this population! Wag’s no small business; read here.Copyright 2022 Pamela Breitberg
Nothing better than city living, I did the country living, much too quiet, darling give me Michigan Ave, lol
Chicago works for me because I can always find big areas of nature to unwind when needed.
