The abundance of Coconut fruits in the Coconut trees brings to mind a favorite drink: Pina Colada. These yellow, unripened fruit will gradually become the brown skull-like figures one usually thinks of when picturing a Coconut. The Portuguese word coco mean “head” or “skull” because the fruit has three indentations that resemble facial features. Copyright 2022 Pamela BreitbergDuring Hurricane Season it is common to remove Coconuts so that do not become projectiles on nearby homes and vehicles. Though there were two Tropical Storms in Ft. Lauderdale this season it was not necessary to remove the fruit this year. The unripened fruit will have the chance this year to mature into their deliciousness.
