Dwarf Papyrus is a sedge, which means it’s grasslike and prefers wet habitats. So this one near the Everglades lives in a happy place. The Dwarf Papyrus grows only a few feet tall. In the fall, the ball of florets turn bronze, It is not unusual for sedges to have fuzzy tops, but this sedge shines with the size of its blooms. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg@breitberg

  1. Oh! what a flashback! I had these in the back corner of our garden, and always thought of them as fireworks. I think one year my sisters and I tried to dip them in paint – I don’t know if it worked or not – all I really remember is that we got in trouble for making a mess! Linda x
