This Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) is a frequent roamer in South Florida and considered an invasive pest. They fascinate me, but I totally understand that there are too many. Originally imported as pets, these dinosaur-like creatures now run wild and uncontrolled. In contrast, it was interesting to read yesterday about the Jamaican Iguana (Cyclura collei) proudly housed in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. These Iguanas are endangered in their native habitat. Like weeds, Iguanas in their native environment are a welcome element in a habitat; yet, in a non-native setting, they either die or become a danger to the status quo. Read about these cousins here.
Very scary looking, lol
I find them fascinating! Ooo!
