Everyone has a purpose…

Yep, those are Black Vultures (Coragyps atratus) resting in the tops of a Florida Everglades tree. Perhaps more unwanted than a dead tree are these creatures. Yet, they serve a purpose in the ecosystem. These birds are important enough that they are protected by both state and federal laws. They are considered Florida’s “flying garbage men”. How much of what we don’t understand only requires us to stop and observe. Surely we’d have to stop and observe a Vulture’s behavior for long periods of time to appreciate their purposes on earth.
