Yes, a tree, is someone. This “one” is no longer alive but still has its purpose as a host to bird houses. Lincoln Park in Chicago has chosen to not tear down all dead trees but to use them as sculpture material. Copyright 2024 Pamela BreitbergYep, those are Black Vultures (Coragyps atratus) resting in the tops of a Florida Everglades tree. Perhaps more unwanted than a dead tree are these creatures. Yet, they serve a purpose in the ecosystem. These birds are important enough that they are protected by both state and federal laws. They are considered Florida’s “flying garbage men”.
