Significant beauty…

My preference for Peonys in my perennial garden naturally attracted me to Camellias when visiting the southern states of the Carolinas and Georgia. I suppose I’d never seen one in real life before. Initially confused, unsure whether this was a rose or peony variety, a cousin simply replied, “it’s a Camellia“.  It turns out that explorers thought similar to me, naming it the Japan Rose.
