Meet the Nannybush,, the future Nannyberry (Viburnum lentago). It is a Chicago native plant, smelling sweet for the couple weeks that it flowers each springtime. I noticed it on my walk around a Lincoln Park migratory bird sanctuary. Later in the year it produces bright red berries. It’s name comes from the tendency for Nanny Goats to feed on the berries!
