The grapes are ready…

I usually miss the height of Grape season in southern Florida. But beware, Seagrape (Coccoloba uvifera) growing on the dunes along the coastline are off limits for eating. Seagrape are endangered along with other coastline vegetation. They are needed to help preserve the coastline and prevent flooding and erosion. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Seagrape fruit may be enjoyed if part of your home garden. The fruit is supposed to resemble the taste of Muscadine Grapes. Now I need to find both and do a taste test. The other fact of Seagrape is that they grow as a tree but can be tamed as a shrub. It took me a while to believe the huge Seagrape tree was the same as the three foot shrub. Read about them here.
