Seeing from a distance to the distances…

Today are some of my final images I want to share along the Blue Ridge Parkway outside of Asheville, North Carolina. The Parkway is closed until at least next spring after Hurricane Helene’s devastation caused mudslides and crumbled many parts of the roadway. I am feeling blessed that I was able to visit here a few months ago. Prayers continue for all those affected across the country by Helene and other natural disasters this year. Frequently, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, are markers helping one know what they are observing. As I mentioned the other day, these markers usually require more guidance to correctly identify which of the many mountains it is referencing.  Helpful, yes. But encouraging more research of the area. Yes, I did buy a guide book! Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Ah, I sense quite a few stories about this area. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
What incredible, breath-taking views are easily available of this vast mountain range. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Blue Ridge Mountains are aptly named. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
As I observed the mountains, clouds continued to move over and above the mountains. Romanticism, mystery, and awesomeness were all emotions I experienced this morning. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Named for the native word for “corn”, Hominy Valley is somewhere down in this scene. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Love the name, “Funnel Top” although unsure which mountain top is so labeled. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Weather moving in is so stunning because so much of the front is viewable from this wide angle viewing point. Some areas in deep shadow by the incoming rains while other areas sunlit. No excuse to be surprised by  a storm. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg

Mt. Pisgah Inn is a must see when in this part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great views and delicious food. Sadly, like the rest of the area it will be closed for months due to Hurricane Helene’s footprint on the area. Counting my blessings and praying for everyone’s safety.
