Subtropical buttons…

The fruit resembles buttons. Silver Buttonwood (Conocaarpus erectus var. sericeus) always gets my attention, especially if I’m ready for a snack. The fruit resemble raspberries; and they are edible yet not a preferred fruit because of their acidity. Coupled with the soft looking, silvery leaves, the Silver Buttonwood is an attractive and popular shrub or small tree. It is often used as a hedge. Note that the fruit are poisonous to dogs!
