Simple, efficient bird bath…

Keeping things simple works more often than not. Here, a Boat-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus major) gets a complete soaking bath in a puddle on the roadway after rains. My passing by didn’t stop its bathtime. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
In the moments of stillness. the water beads up on the feathers; look closely. I can’t help but wonder if it takes more work while bathing when one has waterproof feathers. Many years ago I had an Orange Winged Amazon parrot who absolutely love being sprayed with water, over and over. This Boat-tailed Grackle brought those memories of his fun bathtimes back to the front of my memories. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Should I be watching? Or is this a private moment? Loving that my camera on my phone can clearly capture the rapidly moving action. Love the clear shadow of its image too. May the Long-tailed Grackle feel refreshed after its bath and cooling down from the subtropical heat. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
