Meritorious Herb…

Stem bracts with sepals and flowers at the top distinctively define Tumeric (Curcuma longa) plants. The white flowers caught my attention while Tumeric is more famous for the many uses of its rhizomes. Read about its uses here. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
Tumeric is an Asian/Indian native while the common name derives from Middle English terra merita, meaning “meritorious earth.” I have personally never used tumeric; but it is a widely used herb. Perhaps it is time for me to broaden my palette. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
