Purposeful together…

Firebush (Hamelia patens) is a South Florida, evergreen native. One flower here is partially open showing me that it will be an attractor of Hummingbirds because of its long tubular shape. This small tree is known in Belize as “Guardian of the Forest“. Here it resides along the waters inside the Morikami Gardens. In addition to Hummingbirds, other birds feed on any insects on the plants, which help keep the plant healthy as the birds unconsciously spread pollen.  Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
