In the style of…

These two images were from my photographs, as usual. But done in the style that Robert Bateman often uses: soft backgrounds with clear portrait of plant or animal. Backgrounds have depth but are unfocused, suggested only details. This allows the subject to star in the image. This Compass Plant, a prairie native is a favorite of mine, so long overdue to paint. ll”x14″ in my sketchbook. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
I’m less sure of this rendering of a Great Blue Heron. I’m thinking the background competes with the bird because so bright. Light always attracts the eye. But that’s why it’s done the first time in my sketchbook instead of on canvas. Always more to improve upon. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg

Flowers and birds shine

While I stop to observe them

Always new wonders.
