Fire-resembling tail…

The long yellow and red bracts lean over the coral and moss laden walkway. Dragontail (Aechmea blanchetiana) is a popular subtropical bromeliad in South Florida. Native to the Atlantic side of the subtropics, it is not a native to Florida; but it is happy in the south Florida environment. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
Leaves of the Dragontail are often yellow to orange with hints of greens. Orangeade Bromeliad is another common name for this beauty.  They grow in rosette form from one stem/trunk. Interestingly, this plant makes no fruit. The long, colorful bracts make a long-lasting cut addition for your bouquet. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
