Water storing foot…

Uncarina is a type of plant with a caudex, a water storing “foot” at its base. As it absorbs water, its base swells to store water for times of draught. This yellow flowering, semi-succulent is from Madagascar. It is part of the dessert habitat at Flamingo Gardens in South Florida. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
