Purr-fect day…

Ah. This young Lion is closely reaching maturity. His parents were three years old when they arrived at the Lincoln Park Zoo, so he is soon to be an adult too. He has one older brother and two the same age as him. This was my first time seeing them this year; a long overdue visit. I was surprised at how full their manes have grown. His expression was because a brother just walked nearby and bumped into him, waking him up from an afternoon nap. Just like brothers. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg

Now that the sons as mature, the Lincoln Park Zoo has divided the area into two separate habitats. Dad, Jabari, remains with the three women lions while the boys have their own area. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg

Cute enough to want to pet

Regal enough to signal

Stay back

Lions napping in the sun

Look harmless, yet so mighty
