Sharing a log…

Last week I showed a close up image of that bump on the far right side of the tree branch in the water. It was a Florida Redbelly Turtle. This morning I focus on the two birds sharing the tree branch. These are a pair of Double-crested Cormorants. I first learned of Cormorants as the ‘fishing bird”. My father brought home a bronze figure of a fisherman with his Cormorant from Japan years ago.  Read about this habit here. Copyright 2026 Pamela Breitberg
The Double-crested Cormorants live in the wilds of the Green Cay Nature Center. They hunt small fish in fresh waters. After fishing they go to dry tree limbs or such to dryout their wings.
